Informed Consent Policy at Kensington Psychology Clinic
Informed Consent Policy
Kensington Psychology Clinic
(Effective as of June 2025)
At Kensington Psychology Clinic, we believe informed consent is a cornerstone of ethical and respectful therapeutic care. Before beginning treatment, clients are provided with clear information regarding the nature of therapy, potential risks and benefits, confidentiality and their rights and responsibilities.
Key Principles:
Voluntary Participation: Therapy is a voluntary process. Clients have the right to decline or discontinue therapy at any time, although we encourage open discussion of such decisions.
Confidentiality: All personal information is kept confidential except in circumstances required by law (e.g., risk of harm to self or others, court orders).
Treatment Planning: Your psychologist will collaboratively develop goals and a treatment plan with you. You may ask questions and request changes at any stage.
Information Provided: Clients receive written information prior to commencing therapy, including clinic policies, cancellation fees, Telehealth options and privacy practices.
By attending your first appointment, you acknowledge understanding and agreement with the policies provided and consent to participate in therapy.
