Thank you for taking the time to read Kensington Psychology Clinic’s Acceptable Behaviour Policy. By visiting our premises, communicating with us, or engaging with us in any capacity (whether in person, online, or by phone), you are considered to have accepted the standards and terms outlined below.

For the purposes of this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to Kensington Psychology Clinic; "you" and "your" refer to clients, visitors and any other persons who interact with our clinic or psychologists.

Policy Updates

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on our website at kensingtonpsychology.com.au/codeofconduct. Significant changes will be highlighted on our website or communicated by email where possible.

Purpose and Scope

We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, respectful and culturally sensitive environment for everyone who engages with the clinic. This policy outlines the standards of behaviour expected of all individuals who interact with our space, including clients, psychologists, other health professionals, contractors, visitors and staff.

It applies to all interactions, whether they take place in person, via phone, email, text message, social media, or any other form of communication.

Our Core Expectations

At Kensington Psychology Clinic, we believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect and professionalism. We are committed to maintaining a space that is free from:

  • Aggressive, abusive, or threatening behaviour

  • Harassment, intimidation, or bullying

  • Racism, discrimination, or prejudice

  • Microaggressions or dismissive conduct based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, neurodivergence, or other personal identity

  • Any conduct that compromises the psychological or physical safety of others

We uphold the principles of cultural safety and strive to create an environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and individuals from all cultural backgrounds, feel respected and safe.

Definitions

Antisocial or unacceptable behaviour includes:

  • Physical or verbal threats

  • Aggressive or intimidating language or tone

  • Sexual harassment or misconduct

  • Bullying, coercion, or repeated unreasonable behaviour

  • Refusal to follow clinic safety protocols

Microaggressions may include:

  • Subtle or indirect comments, assumptions or behaviours that convey hostility or bias

  • Comments or jokes about race, gender identity, disability, or mental health that cause harm—even if unintended

Behavioural Standards

By engaging with Kensington Psychology Clinic, you agree to:

  • Treat staff and other clients with courtesy and respect

  • Communicate with honesty and integrity

  • Avoid any behaviour that is threatening, unsafe, or discriminatory

  • Refrain from any form of harassment or abuse (including subtle forms such as microaggressions)

We expect all clinic representatives to uphold these same standards in their interactions with you.

Breach of Policy

We take breaches of this policy seriously. In the event that someone acts in a way that violates these expectations, Kensington Psychology Clinic reserves the right to:

  • Issue a warning

  • Cease communication or therapeutic services

  • Deny access to the premises

  • Refer matters to emergency services or external authorities when necessary

In most cases, we will aim to inform the individual verbally or in writing before ceasing services. If therapy is ended due to a breach of this policy, we will direct care back to the client’s referring provider where appropriate.

Our Commitment to You

We are committed to creating a therapeutic environment that is inclusive, trauma-informed and safe. If you ever feel that a staff member or representative of Kensington Psychology Clinic has acted in a way that breaches this policy, we encourage you to raise your concerns.
